Why do we spend all of our lives trying to get more of everything?
Today after lunch I decided to go and take a walk as I do everyday, it was so good specially when fall has brought to our town a good weather, it's been so long since we didn't enjoy fall with nice temperatures.
When I was going back to my work, I saw that old lady in a wheelchair, with her sunglasses and a white rope, her face didn't make any expression, but happiness wasn't the feeling she was transmitting. Note the fact that a nurse was carrying the wheelchair, that kind of nurse who were trained to keep your health good but not to smile unto you or to say hello in the way you can feel how great life is. Honestly it was a picture that brings me down, not only with the scene I was just looking at but because of the fact that I know this old lady is a neighbor of this wealthy neighborhood, so you can perceive that not matters how rich you are or how many houses, cars, or properties you have, if those things can't take you out a wheelchair or at least put a smile on your face knowing that you are tied to that wheelchair and depending on others to go around your neighborhood, or even to eat something.
I wish I could read minds just to get a little moment in hers. I bet if I could do, I would find those thoughts of wishing, wishing to get the time back just to make sure you live as much as possible for those days when it is impossible to live by your own. Would she take time to say hello to everyone around? That probably would help to get someone, beside a nurse, to take care of her in her needing time. Would she smile everyone around to get a smile for her in her loneliness years? Would she be able to share even part of her millions just to feel satisfy with herself or her soul and live the old times with a sense of satisfaction that she was good with life, so life can be good with her?
But honestly I felt so ashamed to know that it is only a wish, that is impossible to become truth, the time is in God's hand and He can't broke the rules He established about time. So now you just have to take time to be good, to smile someone everyday, to say hello to those who don't have anyone, to share a coin with those who beg in the streets for something to eat. Either you have millions or just a salary that fixes to your expenses, you can take time. And if it is in God's will that some day you could possibly be in a wheelchair with a nurse carrying you and sunglasses on your face, you can feel satisfied with your life, and life with you.
